Payroll & HR Assistant - London - Perm - Up to £35,000
We're supporting a leading London-based transport organisation seeking an Payroll & HR Assistant to join their People team on a permanent basis. With a workforce of 800+, this role offers broad exposure across payroll processing, HR operations and the employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Support (60%)
Process and validate payroll data, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
Maintain payroll records, update employee data and action joiners, leavers and changes
Liaise with HR Shared Services to resolve payroll queries
Investigate pay discrepancies and respond to employee questions
HR Administration (40%)
Act as a first point of contact for HR and payroll-related enquiries
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, issuing contracts and employee documentation
Maintain accurate HRIS records (Cascade), attendance, performance and ER information
Assist with policy updates, wellbeing and engagement activities
Coordinate Occupational Health referrals, testing and related administration
What We're Looking For
At least 1 years' experience working in a role with exposure to payroll
Strong attention to detail and confidence in handling and validating data
Experience using HR systems, ideally Cascade
Strong Excel and general IT skills
Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills
