Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Clinical Physiology at University Hospital Ayr for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within this progressive multidisciplinary department. The role provides Cardiology, Respiratory and Vascular services.
Hours
Full‑Time Permanent post 37 hours per week. Mon‑Fri 08:45-16:45 (early finish 16:00 one day per week). From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
An opportunity has arisen within Clinical Physiology at University Hospital Ayr for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within this progressive multidisciplinary department. The role provides Cardiology, Respiratory and Vascular services. Candidates should have experience of and be competent in a wide range of invasive and non‑invasive cardiology investigations, including diagnostic cardiac catheterisation. Post holder should have basic Echocardiography and Brady Device follow up knowledge. The post holder will take a lead role in Exercise Tolerance Tests providing input to the Chest Pain Assessment Unit and Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics, also independently analyse and report a high number of 24‑72 hour monitors which includes input to the Physiologist led Arrhythmia Pathway Service. The candidate would be required to have excellent communication skills and have supervisory skills in order to appropriately manage junior staff. Potholder would be required to work closely with cardiology and specialist nurse colleagues.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
Post holder would be based at Ayr Hospital but may on occasion be required to work at Crosshouse hospitals. Full UK driving licence is preferable for this role.

* BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
