Overview

2026 Industry Placement | Economic Financial Consulting, London. This is an entry-level one-year placement internship aimed at those ideally between their penultimate and final year of study, studying a degree that allows for placement years. We are looking for motivated, analytical and highly numerate individuals from all academic backgrounds to join our market-leading team based in London, from September 2026 to August 2027.

About the Role

In Economic & Financial Consulting, we provide expert advice on economics, finance, valuation and accountancy, both in complex commercial disputes and in industries undergoing regulatory change.


Our Practice Is Structured Around Two Key Services Areas

* Valuation, Disputes and Arbitration, where we provide valuation advice relating to anything from large public companies to small family businesses, patents and complex financial derivatives. We are the leading expert firm in advising on valuations in the context of legal disputes heard before courts and tribunals worldwide. We also have specialist teams, including:
* Data and Economics team, focusing on applying economic, econometric and statistical analysis in projects with large data volumes or where cause-and-effect questions are important; and
* Capital Market Services team, providing complex financial instruments trading, valuation and risk management expertise with energy industry specialization in quantitative finance.
* Economic Regulatory, where we apply economic theory and in-depth experience to offer advice to regulators and regulated companies on a wide range of issues across industries including financial services, energy and renewables, healthcare and telecoms.

Examples Of Questions Our Clients Have Asked Us include: What impact did Uber have on the earnings of Black Cab drivers in London? What is a fair way to distribute royalties to artists from streaming services? How much could the average energy consumer save with changes to the GB energy market design? How much is the brand value of a Premier League football club worth?

What You'll Do

Placement interns play a key role in project teams by performing industry research and developing the knowledge and experience to perform detailed economic analysis and financial modelling to solve the most complex questions. You will work closely with managers and other team members in small teams, with exposure to leading experts in the industry.


After Comprehensive Training, Your Day-to-Day Tasks Will Include

* Preparing and reviewing financial models, using Excel and financial databases such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
* Using statistical software packages to perform econometric analysis of industry and market data.
* Researching companies, markets or geographies to understand relevant industry features for the project.
* Reviewing the regulatory landscape and drawing parallels with the client's industry.
* Summarising work in emails or memos, clearly presenting results and drawing conclusions.
* Taking responsibility for the quality of the final product.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

* Have received a 2:1 degree or higher (or equivalent) from first year of university.
* Due to graduate university in 2028.
* Available to work a full-time internship from 7 September 2026 to 27 August 2027 in the UK.
* Numerate, logical and inquisitive team players who can think independently and creatively.
* Ability to demonstrate quantitative skills, academically or otherwise.


Our Application Process

The deadline for applications is 23 October 2025.

2. STEP 2: Complete online numerical and verbal reasoning tests.
3. STEP 3: Attend an assessment centre day, including a competency-based interview, a group exercise, and an interview with a senior manager between 10–12 November.
4. STEP 4: Internship offers are made to successful candidates before Christmas.
