Assistant Ranger – Country Parks Service, Warwickshire County Council
The Country Parks Service, as part of Warwickshire County Council, manages five country parks, three greenways and two nature reserves across Warwickshire. We welcome around a million visitors every year.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Assistant Ranger to join our team in the north of the county. This role covers Kingsbury Water Park, Pooley Country Park and Hartshill Hayes. All sites involve managing visitors and wildlife, balancing recreation with conservation.
Key Responsibilities
* Work weekends and bank holidays in all weathers.
* Use work vehicles to travel across the parks.
* Promote and assist visitors’ enjoyment of the countryside.
* Practical habitat management, public access works, site compliance and safety checks.
* Lead events and school visits.
* Maintain park cleanliness and carry out routine maintenance.
* Lead and manage volunteer groups.
* Act as bailiff for the fishery at Kingsbury Water Park.
* Work at other parks across the county and may be required to work additional hours.
Key Requirements
* Experience of working or volunteering in a country park setting.
* Experience managing a variety of habitats.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Practical countryside skills including the use of hand tools, brush cutters or ride-on mowers.
* Strong communication skills and experience leading events for children.
* Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays and to work within a team, providing support to colleagues as well as on own initiative.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
