Service Care Solutions are working alongside Coventry City Council who are looking for a technically minded Insurance Manager to join their team on a temporary contract. Please find a description of the role below.
Role: Insurance Manager
Location: Coventry
Rate: £400-£450 per day (umbrella/ltd)
Contract: 6 months ongoing
Working: Hybrid, Full-time (minimum 1-2 days per week)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the Council’s insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate cover is in place.
2. Provide expert insurance advice across departments, including Legal and Procurement.
3. Lead the Council’s response to insurance claims and manage a small claims team.
4. Ensure accurate financial provisions and reserves for claims.
5. Lead the review and reporting of the Corporate Risk Register to senior leadership.
6. Support service areas with risk management guidance and register reviews.
7. Chartered Insurance Institute qualified or relevant experience.
8. Experience in or with local authorities.
9. Skilled at building relationships with a range of stakeholders.
10. Confident in providing strategic and operational advice on insurance and risk.
11. A strong leader with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
