Overview
This is a front line position and you will often be the first health care worker that patients see in our department. It is essential that you are a good communicator and greet each individual with respect and dignity. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations/procedures, providing clear instructions, and assisting with changing, cannulation and radiation protection screening.
Responsibilities
* Perform administrative and housekeeping tasks to facilitate effective service delivery.
* Monitor patients for the duration of their visit, including vital signs observations as required.
* Support the nursing team in providing quality patient care in two Interventional Day Case Units.
* Transfer patients to and from the department as well as in and out of examination rooms and onto specific imaging tables.
* Contribute to a clean and safe department, comply with policies and report faults quickly.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide essential services to almost every patient that visits the hospital.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver direct patient care in line with Trust values: caring, listening and excelling, and how this relates to yourself and patients.
* Support the nursing team to deliver high quality care for patients in Day Case Units and the IR labs.
* Undertake patient observations and documentation in line with the NEWS (National Early Warning Score) system. Respond to signs of a deteriorating patient and alert the appropriate team if emergency intervention is required following departmental protocol.
* Perform cannulation and removal of cannula after appropriate training.
* Support interventional procedures in all modalities through competency in sterile trolley preparation, decanting and assisting as required.

The post-holder is responsible for delivering highly skilled, patient-focused care, acting as an advocate for patient safety and excellent experiences within the Trust. The post-holder will be available to commit to the following shifts: Mon-Fri, 8:00–16:00 or 9:00–17:00.
