Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Mentor to work with a secondary-aged pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at our client autism specialist school in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. About the Role As a 1:1 Support Mentor, you will work closely with one secondary-aged pupil, providing consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. Your role will involve: Building a trusting, positive relationship that helps the pupil feel safe, understood, and motivated. Supporting the pupil to regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and develop resilience. Encouraging engagement in lessons by breaking down tasks, offering reassurance, and promoting independence. Using restorative, trauma-informed, and proactive strategies to help the pupil navigate challenges. Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives the right support. Helping the pupil develop social skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school community. What We're Looking For A calm, patient, and empathetic approach. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people. GCSE English & Maths (grade C/level 4 or above). Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
