About the Role
We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in either the Bournemouth or Reading offices, as part of a broader Sustainability Group that operates across all Hoare Lee offices.
In this key and varied role you can expect to:
* Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.) from early design stages through to completion.
* Support the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
* Undertake modelling and analysis, including embodied carbon of materials, circular economy opportunities, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, and overheating.
* Support the development of energy strategies with clients to drive sustainability innovation on a range of developments.
* Provide training to graduate team members and contribute to the development of junior colleagues.
* Collaborate on research and development initiatives to keep us at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.
* Participate in industry research, studies and the authoring of guidance for those interested in shaping the sector.
About You
You are likely to have knowledge and competence in one or more of the following areas:
* BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments.
* Bespoke sustainability charters.
* Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole‑life carbon reports and circular‑economy statements.
* Whole‑life carbon assessments using OneClick or comparable methodologies.
* Energy strategies.
* Building Regulations Part L assessments using Elmhurst and IES.
* In‑use energy modelling and assessment.
* Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort and overheating risk assessments.
* Net‑zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations.
To be successful in this role
* Experience working within the built environment sector.
* Currently working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy and seeking a new challenge at a practice at the forefront of the field.
* A degree in an applicable field and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
* A desire to be part of a dynamic team within a progressive and well‑respected firm.
* Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
* Serious commitment to sustainability.
