About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our expanding North West team within a leading Tier 1 main contractor. This is a key role within our regional operations, overseeing the design coordination and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects including local authority, Ministry of Defence (MoD), commercial, high-rise residential, and government-backed schemes. Working closely with pre-construction, technical, and project delivery teams, you will take ownership of the design process - ensuring that innovative, buildable, and commercially viable solutions are delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate the design process from tender through to handover.
* Lead design meetings with consultants, clients, and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with client requirements, statutory regulations, and company procedures.
* Review and manage design deliverables to meet programme, cost, and quality targets.
* Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.
* Drive collaboration between design, procurement, and construction functions.
* Manage design risk and change control processes effectively.
About You
* Proven experience as a Design Manager within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor, or a strong regional contractor.
* A solid understanding of design management processes across multiple sectors.
* Experience working on public sector, MoD, and complex commercial or high-rise projects.
* Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
* A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering excellence.
* Relevant qualifications in architecture, engineering, or construction management (preferred).
