Join Us as a Principal Engineer – Systems Engineering (Requirements & Acceptance)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid – 2 days on site per fortnight, depending on business needs)
Salary: Up to £60,000 (commensurate with skills and experience)
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems engineering. Your responsibilities will include:
* Generating and ensuring consistency within the requirement set for 12 major C&I systems, including Distributed Control Systems, Control Console, and Vehicle Control Systems.
* Supporting the wider C&I design for various sub-systems related to Secondary Propulsion, Platform Mechanical, and Platform Electrical.
* Managing various requirements stakeholders to maintain consistency across the Centralised C&I team.
* Assisting in the development of functional designs for systems within the Centralised C&I scope.
* Assessing designs for compliance with requirements, ensuring risks are mitigated as much as possible.
* Providing guidance on engineering methods and processes to successfully deliver the engineering delivery plan.
* Developing instructions on engineering methods to ensure consistent technical excellence.
* Collaborating with the Engineering Delivery Team to develop technical solutions while nurturing team members' growth.
Your Skills and Experiences
Essential:
* Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
* Experience in regulated industries such as Defence, Oil and Gas, or Nuclear.
* Professional knowledge and experience in C&I design across the entire lifecycle.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Well-developed experience in full lifecycle requirements management.
Desirable:
* Experience in Supplier Requirements management.

The SSNA CCI Governance Team
In this role, you will be part of the Centralised C&I Governance Team, responsible for developing processes and providing assurance for the next generation of Nuclear Attack Submarines. This is an exciting opportunity to shape future ways of working and lay the foundations for the success of the SSNA C&I programme.
