Are you passionate about animal care and welfare? Do you have industry experience and want to share your knowledge with the next generation?


Peterborough College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Animal Care Lecturer to join our thriving Animal Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to teach and inspire learners across a range of qualifications from Level 1 through to Level 3, including the new T Level in Animal Management.


Whether you're already teaching or looking to move into education from industry, we'd love to hear from you. If you have relevant industry experience but don't yet hold a teaching qualification, we'll support you to gain one while you work.

About the role

As an Animal Care Lecturer, you will:

* Deliver engaging and inspiring teaching across a range of Animal Care programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, including T Levels.
* Plan and develop innovative learning resources, schemes of work and assessments.
* Support learners to achieve their potential through high-quality teaching, assessment and feedback.
* Monitor student progress, set SMART targets and implement effective interventions where required.
* Embed English, maths, employability and industry skills into teaching and learning.
* Contribute to course development, quality improvement activities and student recruitment events.
* Work closely with employers and industry partners to enhance learner experiences and progression opportunities.
* Support students through tutorials, work experience activities and enrichment opportunities.


What we're looking for

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

* Relevant qualifications and/or significant industry experience within Animal Care, Animal Management, Animal Welfare or a related discipline.
* A passion for developing and inspiring young people.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* The ability to engage and motivate learners with a variety of abilities and backgrounds.
* Experience within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.


Teaching qualifications are welcomed, but industry professionals looking to begin a rewarding career in education are encouraged to apply. Full training and support can be provided to gain a recognised teaching qualification.
