About Us
The Vale of Glamorgan Community Mental Health Service for Older People is an integrated team of local authority and health professionals with specialist knowledge of mental disorders. Our multidisciplinary team includes Social Workers, Approved Mental Health Professionals, Psychologists, Psychiatric nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Psychiatrists. We meet weekly to discuss complex cases and deliver recovery‑focused care and treatment to adults living with dementia and people over 65 with mental ill health.
We support individuals to achieve personal outcomes, working closely with families to ensure safety and well‑being in their communities.

About The Role
Pay Details: Grade 8 SCP 26‑30 £37,280‑£40,777, Pro Rata £19.32‑£21.14
Hours of Work: 37 hours
Working Pattern: Mon‑Fri
Main Place of Work: Llanfair Unit, Llandough Hospital
Assess adults to determine eligibility for services, promote user empowerment and independence, and provide appropriate information, advice and signposting to alternative services.
About You
You will need:
* Experience working with adults who are vulnerable through illness, disability, mental illness, substance misuse or age‑related frailty.
* Experience working with adults living with mental health problems, and within mental health services.
* Assessment of adult service users and carers.
* Understanding of illness, disability, mental illness, substance misuse and age‑related frailty and its effects on individuals, carers and families.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act 2014, Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983.
* Knowledge of safeguarding issues and procedures in relation to adults.
* A good standard of general education.
* A recognised degree/diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work (e.g. Degree, DipSW, CQSW).
* Registration with Social Care Wales.
