Network Engineer
Job Description
Our Edinburgh based client are looking to onboard an additional Network Engineer to support a new project over a rolling 6 month contract period. You will be supporting the existing network team to handle a high volume of changes and configuration work, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across complex enterprise environments. The position is hands-on and technically focused, requiring strong expertise in core networking technologies and security platforms.
This is an initial 6 month contract working hybrid in the Edinburgh office 2-3 days per week. Thus, candidates must be within a commutable distance to Edinburgh. This role will also be INSIDE IR35 for reference.
Responsibilities
1. Implement, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco network devices, ensuring stable and secure network operations.
2. Administer and maintain firewalls, including rule-set changes, policy updates, and security optimisation.
3. Configure and support F5 technologies, including load balancers and related application delivery services.
4. Manage and execute a high volume of network changes in line with project timelines and change management processes.
5. Collaborate with existing network engineers and project stakeholders to design and implement network solutions that meet business requirements.
Essential Skills
6. Proven experience as a Network Engineer working in complex enterprise network environments.
7. Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies, including configuration and troubleshooting.
8. Practical experience with Check Point firewall administration and security policy management.
9. Understanding of F5 technologies, such as load balancing and application delivery.
10. Solid understanding of core networking concepts, including routing, switching, TCP/IP, VPNs, and network security principles.
11. Ability to manage and implement multiple network changes accurately and efficiently within structured change control processes.
12. Ideally CCNP certified or equivalent industry experience.
