Instrument Technician Location: near East Hoathly, East Sussex Salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours: Monday–Friday, full-time, permanent Are you an experienced Instrument Technician with strong electro-mechanical assembly and testing skills? This is an opportunity to join a leading scientific instrument manufacturer supplying precision vacuum systems to a global customer base. You’ll work as part of a small, skilled production team, assembling, wiring, testing, and calibrating complex instruments. The role involves both hands-on mechanical and electrical work, interpreting engineering drawings, and performing final inspections to ensure products meet exacting standards. Key Responsibilities * Assemble and test precision vacuum instruments from kits of parts. * Carry out electro-mechanical wiring, soldering, and calibration. * Perform fault-finding, repairs, and occasional site installations. * Maintain accurate production and test records. * Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices. Ideal Candidate * Background in electro-mechanical assembly or test engineering. * Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics. * Competent with hand tools, test meters, and inspection gauges. * Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision. * HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering (advantageous). * Full UK driving licence and own transport (rural site).
