We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Deputy Team Leader to join our dynamic birth centre team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to woman-centred maternity care within a supportive and progressive environment.
As Deputy Team Lead Midwife, you will assist the Team Lead in managing daily operations, clinical governance, and fostering a positive team culture. Your responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of care, staff development, and continuous quality improvement.
This position provides an opportunity to develop leadership and management skills such as workforce planning, staff management, governance, handling complaints, and quality improvement.
Main duties of the job
* Provide leadership and supervision to midwifery staff within the Birth Centre.
* Assist in ensuring compliance with clinical standards, policies, and guidelines.
* Support effective multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance care delivery.
* Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
* Act as a role model, promoting best practice and professional development.
* Manage daily staffing and resources to meet the needs of women and families.
* Support junior staff with clinical skills such as cannulation, suturing, venipuncture, vaginal examinations, and amniotomy.
* Support junior midwives and maternity support workers to ensure high-quality care, including out-of-guidelines care.
* Participate in investigating complaints according to UCLH Policy and implement recommendations for improvement.
