To give you a sense for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70million salad based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people in the town. The Role: We are recruiting for a QA Manager (Quality Assurance Manager) to lead and motivate the QA team in monitoring and evaluating product and processing systems and factory practices. You will be tasked to ensure agreed standards of quality and food safety are achieved and improved upon and in addition to take a lead in generating and building a quality culture. Your main accountabilities will include understanding and applying relevant standards so that Bakkavor, Customer BRC and Legal requirements are achieved and maintained. You will also be responsible for ensuring there is a systematic, comprehensive HACCP system that is implemented and maintained, reviewing Quality Management Systems, Internal Audits, Identifying Technical Training requirements at all levels in the business (e.g. HACCP, food hygiene etc.) to ensure that all employees are properly equipped to undertake their roles as well as developing action plans to drive improvement. Your main accountabilities will include: Understanding and applying relevant standards and codes of practice so that Bakkavor, Customer, BRC and legal requirements are achieved and maintained. Ensuring that the requirements of HACCP are implemented, maintained, and achieved. Involvement in the evaluation of risks and defining controls, prior to the introduction of a new process, product, or raw material. Understanding, implementing, and reviewing quality management systems associated with the production of food to the agreed safety and quality standards. Implementing, maintaining, and reviewing an audit system to ensure that critical procedures for product safety, legality and quality are in place and complied with. In addition, review all internal findings, identify trends, and implement appropriate preventative measures. Supporting the Technical Manager & the business with management of audits, hosting audits as appropriate. Managing response & close out of non-conformance reports from audits as required. Effectively communicating with internal and external customers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure all the technical needs of the business are met. Deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence Managing the training & development requirements of the technical team and ensuring that direct reports are properly equipped to undertake their roles. Managing the QA team including recruitment and personal development of the team. Generating technical business KPI information, communicating, trend and highlight issues. Developing and agree action plans and through Continuous Improvement drive the business forward. Ensuring that a safe working environment exists for all employees within the QA team and that as a minimum the standards set out in the H&S manual are met. About You Ideally, you will have previous experience within a similar Technical/QA Manager or Supervisory role within a fast faced high care food manufacturing environment and a good knowledge of food safety.
