3D Environment Artist – Unreal Engine Location: Hybrid (3 days per week on-site in Central London) Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum Type: Full-time, Permanent We are working with a London-based production studio looking to hire an experienced 3D Environment Artist with a strong track record in real-time scene assembly and environment work in Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate will come from a Games, VFX or Virtual Production background and have a keen eye for composition, performance-aware scene building, and real-time visuals. This is a hands-on role focused on building, dressing, and refining environments that look great and run efficiently. A working knowledge of Blueprints and technical workflows is a strong advantage but not a core requirement. Key Responsibilities * Building and dressing real-time environments in Unreal Engine using modular assets and kits. * Collaborating with the art and tech teams to ensure scenes meet both creative and performance goals. * Working with lighting, materials, and post-process volumes to shape the final look. * Managing clean scene organisation, asset naming, and performance-friendly structuring. * Supporting minor technical implementation (e.g. triggers, animations) via Blueprints when needed. What We’re Looking For * Professional experience as a 3D or Environment Artist in Games, VFX, or Virtual Production. * Solid working knowledge of Unreal Engine — particularly scene assembly and optimisation. * Strong understanding of real-time lighting, asset efficiency, and visual polish. * Experience using tools such as Maya/Max/Blender and Substance Painter or Designer. * A proactive, problem-solving mindset and ability to contribute across creative and technical workflows. Bonus Skills * Blueprint experience for environmental logic or basic interactivity. * Familiarity with real-time workflows in broadcast, live events, or VP. * Understanding of shader blending, landscape tools, and lighting pipelines.
