Quantity Surveyor – Transportation Portfolio
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge? Join a leading multi-million-pound organisation to work within our Transportation Portfolio on Highways programmes and projects. This role offers excellent opportunities for long-term career progression.
A bit about the role
As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects and workstreams on major highways projects.
A bit about the team
Our North Eastern transportation team is expanding, consisting of Project/Programme Managers, Planners, Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors. We deliver a broad range of transportation projects through integrated, full-service Project, Programme and Commercial Management.
Main duties
* Commercially manage a project or multiple projects, including:
o Budget management and month-end reporting (actuals, monthly variances, accruals, annual variances)
o Risk management and reporting
o Dispute resolution / avoidance
o Offering commercial strategy advice
o Review and recommendation of subcontractor acceptance
o Assessment of compensation events
o Assessment of monthly payment applications
o Commercial audits
* Mentoring junior team members
Required qualifications and experience
* Full membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
* Cost planning skills and experience delivering within a cost consultancy or multi-disciplinary environment
* Experience of contract administration, cost estimates and NEC contracts
* Experience on transportation/highways projects preferred
* Ideally degree qualified
* Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a larger team
* Excellent IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* Strong communication skills, including report writing and presenting
* Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain
* Flexible approach to work
* Flexibility to travel to client sites and other Mott MacDonald offices
