Due to our continued work winning success wecurrently have an opportunity for an experienced Estimator to joinour officebased team in Borehamwood to support the preconstructionphase of projects by providing accurate and comprehensive costestimates ensuring projects are financially viable competitive andaligned with client expectations.
You will beworking closely with project managers engineers and otherstakeholders. You will analyse bid specifications drawings andproject documents to develop a thorough understanding of projectrequirements. This will involve conducting detailed quantitytakeoffs from engineering drawings to determine the quantities ofmaterials labour and equipment needed for each project andpreparing estimates from firstprinciples
Duties andResponsibilities
* Preparationof estimates from First Principles using Causeway Estimatingsoftware / and the Microsoft OfficeSuite.
* Evaluate bid specifications drawings andother project documents to develop a comprehensive understanding ofproject requirements and identify potential risks oropportunities.
* Perform quantity takeoffs fromarchitectural and engineering drawings to determine requiredquantities of materials labour andequipment.
* Collaborate with subcontractors toobtain competitive pricing for materials and services ensuringcosteffective and timely delivery.
* Conduct costanalysis of alternative materials methods and design changesproviding recommendations to optimize project costs whilemaintaining quality standards.
* Identifypotential risks and uncertainties associated with constructionprojects propose mitigation strategies and communicate findings torelevant parties.
* Prepare and maintain accuratedocumentation of estimating activities including records ofassumptions methodologies and pricingsources.
* Work closely with project managersengineers and other stakeholders to clarify project requirementsresolve issues and ensure alignment between estimated costs andproject scope.
* Attendtenderstage site visits to gather additional information which mayaffect the bid and highlight any specific challenges to be overcomein order to provide a competitiveoffer.
Skills andExperience
* Degree orHND qualified in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or arelated field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also beconsidered.
* Demonstrable experience as anEstimator in the construction industry with a strong background inestimating Power/ Electricals/Renewable projects being essential.Working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 / FIDIC contractsdesirable.
* Proficiency in constructionestimating software and advanced Microsoft Excelskills.
* Strong analytical and problemsolvingabilities with attention to detail and the ability to interpretcomplex project specifications anddrawings.
* Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills with the ability to effectively collaboratewith internal and externalstakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability toprioritize tasks manage multiple projects simultaneously and meetdeadlines in a fastpaced environment.
* Abilityto work effectively in a team environment fostering collaborationand building positive relationships with colleagues and projectstakeholders.
* Driving License:Essential.
