Overview
The London Borough of Harrow's Adult Social Care division is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) Senior Practitioner to join our dynamic Reablement Team. In this pivotal role you will provide expert clinical supervision, support and guidance to Occupational Therapists, OT Assistants and Trusted Assessors within the reablement pathway, delivering short‑term, goal‑oriented interventions that empower residents to regain their skills and independence following illness or hospital discharge. You will also support a strengths‑based approach that prevents or delays the need for long‑term care.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Reablement Provider and Multi‑Disciplinary Team to deliver high‑quality, outcome‑focused reablement practice.
* Lead functional assessments, goal‑setting and robust reviews, demonstrating practical approaches to support individuals in achieving independence.
* Manage complex cases, particularly those involving intricate moving and handling, and provide specialist advice to the Harrow Adaptations and Repair Team (HART).
* Chair professional meetings and act as Duty Manager or deputise for the Team Manager.
* Provide specialist training and professional supervision to Occupational Therapists, OTA's and Trusted Assessors or students.
* Present complex cases to the panel with clear outcomes.
* Write detailed reports and documentation.
* Work occasional unsocial hours as required.
Key Qualifications
* Registered Occupational Therapist with significant experience in Adult Social Care and reablement.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
* Significant experience in carrying out occupational therapy responsibilities and advising less experienced staff.
* Extensive knowledge of the legislation and policies that relate to the adult agenda, to a level that can advise other less‑experienced staff.
Additional Requirements
* Must hold a valid UK driver’s licence.
* The ability to carry out specialised training as required.
* Willingness and ability to work occasional unsocial hours.
Flexible Working
This position offers flexible scheduling with the option for either part‑time (18 hours per week) or full‑time (36 hours per week) commitments.
