Community Support Worker in Wantage Job Description
The Community Support Worker in Wantage is responsible to the Supervisor, Area Manager, and Managing Director, delivering high-quality care and practical support to Service Users within their own homes and local communities. This role focuses on promoting independence, assisting with daily living tasks, and providing companionship, while ensuring dignity, respect, and overall wellbeing are maintained at all times.
Rates of Pay
* Training: £12.50 per hour
* Travel Time: £12.50 per hour
* Probationary Period:
* Weekdays: £12.50 per hour
* Weekends: £14.00 per hour (additional 50p per hour for Level 3 and above)
* Bank Holidays: £18.00 per hour (including Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)
* Post-Probation:
* Weekdays: £13.50 per hour
* Weekends: £15.00 per hour (additional 50p per hour for Level 3 and above)
* Bank Holidays: £19.00 per hour (including Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)

Working Hours
* Weekends: Required to work a full weekend every other weekend
* Public Holidays: Must work any public holidays that fall on usual working days
* Evenings: Required to be available for a minimum of 1-2 evenings each week
Location
* Services are provided to service users in their own homes.
* Travel may be required throughout Wantage and surrounding villages, or other locations as necessary.
Purpose of Position
Provide a personalised programme of personal care and household management foreach service user as outlined in their care plan. Duties include assisting with varioustasks while respecting the service user's dignity, privacy, and independence.
Main Duties
* Provide personal and practical, person-centred care services for people with a range of illnesses and disabilities.
* Assist service users with daily routines, including getting up, going to bed, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, shaving, oral care, and toileting.
* Assist with prescribed medication.
* Help service users with mobility issues and physical disabilities, including incontinence and the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
* Encourage independence and promote diversity and equal opportunity.
* Provide care for service users who are terminally ill.
* Provide companionship and conversation.
* Promote mental and physical activity through conversation, outings, and shared activities like reading, writing, hobbies, and recreation.
* Make and change beds, tidy rooms, perform light cleaning, and empty commodes.
* Launder service users’ clothing.
* Set tables and trays, serve meals, feed service users who need assistance, prepare light meals, wash up, tidy, and clear away.
* Assist in caring for pets, including feeding and walking.
* Collect pensions and take service users shopping.
* Liaise with doctors, district nurses, and other professionals on behalf of the service user.
* Provide support to the family of service users and other support workers
* Treat service users and staff members with respect at all times.
* Conform to all policies, procedures, and guidelines of Care with Dignity Partnerships.
* Accurately and competently follow managers' instructions and adhere to individual service users' care plans.
* Engage in meaningful communication with service users, recognising their personal choices in their own homes.
* Wear uniform, identification badges, and personal protective equipment during working hours.
* Ensure home visits are conducted as scheduled, and obtain service user signatures on timesheets, delivering these weekly to the office.
* Maintain accurate, concise, and timely records of service user care, including communication sheets, medication forms, financial transaction sheets, and timesheets.
* Return all relevant paperwork to the office as required.
* Submit holiday request forms with the required notice.
* Document each visit in communication sheets, detailing tasks undertaken, changes, and other relevant information, writing clearly in black ink with accurate times, dates, and signatures.
* Work within company regulations regarding the handling of service users’ finances, ensuring accurate documentation and receipting.
* Be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy and promote safe working practices, ensuring compliance with infection control procedures.
* Monitor work areas to ensure they are safe and free from hazards.
* Report and record any accidents or incidents, regardless of severity.
* Report sickness and absence as per company procedures and cover colleagues' absence during their leave.
* Report any concerns about service users' health, behaviour, or circumstances to management immediately, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
* Uphold consistent standards of confidentiality and report any breaches or discrimination.
* Comply with tasks and activities prohibited by company policy.
* Communicate any issues or difficulties with service delivery to managers.
* Suggest ideas to enhance or improve service delivery.
* Participate in induction, foundation training, and regular in-service training programmes, forums, personal development meetings, and supervisions.
* Make yourself available regularly for personal and professional progress assessments, recorded on your personnel file, available for inspection upon request.
* Perform other duties as reasonably required.
