Hours: 28 hours per week (over 4 days)
Location: Based across Mind in the Vale offices in Barry, Penarth and Llantwit Major, with delivery within local GP practices, online, and in community venues.
Job Purpose
The Wellbeing and Guided Self-Help Practitioner will provide wellbeing and mental health support to individuals experiencing mild to moderate, or severe and stable, mental health difficulties. The role includes guided self-help, social prescribing, and the delivery of psycho-educational courses, supporting people to improve wellbeing, resilience, and self-management.
Working as part of an established team and across community and primary care settings, the postholder will receive referrals from GPs, health practitioners, and self-referrals.
Full training will be provided for this role; however, applicants are expected to have experience of working in mental health and a good understanding of, and interest in, the voluntary and community sector.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide 1:1 wellbeing support using person-centered and strengths-based approaches.
· Deliver guided self-help interventions using evidence-based resources.
· Deliver psycho-educational courses and workshops, both online and in community venues.
· Provide social prescribing and support access to appropriate community activities and services.
· Complete assessments identifying needs, strengths, risks, and agreed outcomes.
· Use outcome measures including the Recovery Star and CORE-OM.
· Record all contacts and outcomes accurately on the Lamplight database.
· Work in partnership with voluntary, statutory, and community organisations and groups.
· Work closely with the Tier 0 Coordinator and Administrative staff to ensure procedures are followed.
· Maintain professional boundaries to promote independence and prevent dependency.
· Participate in organisational supervision and external clinical supervision.
· Represent Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan professionally, including appropriate dress and conduct.
Person Specification
Essential
· Experience of working in a mental health or wellbeing setting.
· Understanding of mild to moderate and severe but stable mental health presentations.
· Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and professional boundaries.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively.
· Good organisational skills and ability to manage a caseload.
· Ability to record confidently and accurately using electronic systems.
· Understanding of and interest in the voluntary and community sector.
Desirable
· Relevant qualification or training in mental health or wellbeing.
· Experience using outcome measures such as the Recovery Star or CORE-OM.
· Experience delivering group work or psycho-educational courses.
· Experience working with GP practices or primary care.
· Knowledge of local community resources.
