Location: College of Policing, Leamington Road, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry, West Midlands, England, CV8 3EN
Role Purpose
To provide an efficient and reliable porterage service across the College of Policing site at Ryton. The role supports day‑to‑day operations by ensuring teaching spaces, accommodation areas, and shared facilities are set up, maintained, and serviced to a high standard. The porter team also contributes to site logistics, waste collection, and minibus driving duties.
Key Responsibilities
1. Classroom and Event Set‑Ups
1. Prepare teaching rooms, meeting spaces, and training areas in line with booking requirements.
2. Set up tables, chairs, AV equipment, training props, and other materials as required.
3. Reconfigure rooms between sessions, ensuring layouts meet safety and accessibility standards.
2. Furniture and Equipment Moves
4. Move and relocate furniture, office items, and equipment across the site safely.
5. Support staff with internal moves and space reorganisation.
6. Carry out manual handling tasks in accordance with training and risk assessments.
3. Site Waste Collection
7. Collect waste and recycling from buildings across the site.
8. Transport waste to designated disposal or recycling points.
9. Ensure waste areas are kept clean, tidy, and compliant with site procedures.
4. Minibus Driving Duties
10. Drive the company minibus during morning and end‑of‑shift periods.
11. Transport cleaning staff and other authorised personnel safely to and from the site.
12. Share driving duties with other porters as part of a rota.
13. Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel, tyres, cleanliness) and report any defects.
5. General Site Support
14. Assist with deliveries and distribution of parcels around the estate.
15. Support estates, security, and cleaning teams with ad‑hoc requests.
16. Maintain high levels of customer service when interacting with staff, visitors, or contractors.
17. Report building faults, hazards, and maintenance issues promptly.
Skills and Experience
18. Previous experience in a porter, facilities, or estates support role (desirable).
19. Full UK driving licence suitable for minibus operation.
20. Good communication skills and a positive, helpful attitude.
21. Ability to work as part of a team and manage time effectively.
22. Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks safely.
23. Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
Additional Requirements
24. Flexibility to work across shifts as required by the site.
25. Willingness to undertake training (manual handling, vehicle checks, site safety, etc.).
26. Commitment to maintaining professionalism and confidentiality within a policing‑related environment.
27. Security Clearances are mandatory to be able to work on site, if clearances come back rejected the employment is terminated.
