Job description
A leading contractor is searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves taking ownership of multiple water infrastructure projects, ensuring they are commercially managed from tender handover through to final account. You will collaborate closely with both operations and delivery teams to help drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Take ownership of projects from tender handover to final account
2. Monitor cost efficiency across operational teams
3. Manage cashflow and sales forecasting
4. Prepare and submit monthly payment applications
5. Conduct cost/value reporting and forecasting
6. Assess, issue, and manage sub-contract certificates
7. Oversee budget management and procurement of sub-contractors
8. Prepare and negotiate contract and sub-contract documents and terms
9. Attend internal and external meetings as required
10. Promote and uphold safe working practices within the commercial function
11. Mentor and develop junior members of the commercial and delivery teams
12. Liaise with other departments and support wider business needs
13. Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role
Key Competencies & Experience:
14. Proven experience in a similar role
15. Strong commercial acumen with experience preparing detailed cost reports and forecasts
16. Proficient in managing and administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
17. Excellent negotiation skills
18. Effective communicator, confident presenting to all levels including external stakeholders
19. Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word
20. Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
Qualifications & Sector Experience:
21. Degree qualified in a relevant cost/commercial discipline
22. Experience within the water industry is preferred
