Biomedical Scientist - Annex 21 - Haematology

Duties
* Process a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Haematology/Blood Transfusion using scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples.
* Provide advice to clinicians and healthcare staff regarding test appropriateness and time-scales.
* Operate complex equipment independently, using specialist training, and resolve technical problems.
* Mentor less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participate in training and supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
The Role
Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where they will undergo training and be paid a percentage of Band 6 salary. Upon completion, they will progress to Band 6.

Requirements
* HCPC registration with the Health Professions Council.
* BSc Honours in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
* Evidence of specialist knowledge in discipline-specific procedures.
* Continuing professional development evidence.
Desirable qualifications include Licentiate of the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS laboratory experience.
Contract Details
Permanent, full-time, 37 hours/week.
Location and Working Pattern
Based at University Hospital Hairmyres in Haematology. Similar roles may be considered in other locations.
