We have an exciting opportunity for a Night Nurse to join our Primary Care and Mental Health team at HMP Preston, a Category B remand male prison located in Preston with a capacity of 680.
Job Summary
Night Nurse will work full time in the inpatient unit, covering both physical and mental health responsibilities during 8.15 pm – 7.45 am nights. Please keep in mind that you will also be required to do a day shift on rotation for ongoing professional development and support every 3‑6 months.
Hours
* Monday – Sunday – 37.5 hours per week
* 8.15 pm – 7.45 am – Nights Only
* 7 nights on – 7 nights off (rotational day shift)
Salary and Benefits
This position is full time, with an annual salary between £34,428 and £41,659 per annum (FTE), depending on experience.

Main Responsibilities
* Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
* Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
* Deliver nurse‑led clinics and provide evidence‑based care, seeking and acting on patient feedback to personalise care.
* Deliver non‑judgmental care that makes a real difference, promoting best practice and continuous quality improvement.
* Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong multi‑disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Understanding of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working in a secure environment.
* A non‑judgmental and compassionate approach.
* Excellent communication skills.
Experience
Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable.
Requirements
* Legal right to work in the UK.
* Job offers subject to additional vetting and security checks.
* Compliance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
