Sanctuary Personnel is an innovative recruitment agency with a new permanent position available for an Approved Mental Health Professional to work full time based in Oldham. The salary for this permanent Approved Mental Health Professional job is up to £47,181 per annum.


Main duties

* Complete assessments where possible. If not possible, liaise with the AMHP manager on-call, consult the next AMHP on duty, and provide a full handover in line with best and safe practice.
* Work as a team undertaking assessments under the Mental Health Act on a rota basis.
* Consult with doctors, specialists and other professionals to establish service users current circumstances and previous history. Collect additional relevant background information from a variety of sources, for example medical records, case notes etc.
* Make alternative arrangements for the service user’s care when an application is not made under the Act (or is refused) and inform all relevant agencies, including the nearest relative.
* Complete Approved Mental Health Professional report documentation in a timely manner and circulate to all relevant parties.
* Practice within the guidance and policies that relate to AMHP duties where this is consistent with the codes of practice and case law. Contribute the AMHP practice experience perspective to the ongoing development of these policies and guidance.
* Prepare for and attend supervision sessions and staff meetings and make use of all available training and developmental opportunities.
* Contribute to the evaluation and development of services and new ideas by sharing knowledge about theory, skills and practice with other Social Services staff, professional groups and interested bodies. This could include co-working cases where deemed appropriate.
* Liaise with partner agencies through established forums and other communication as required, including liaison with police, ambulance, MHA administrators.
* Attend meetings as required by the post or agreed with the manager.
* Keep abreast of new legislation and methods of work within the service as appropriate to the post.
* Undertake continuous professional development and be aware of new developments, legislation, initiatives, guidelines, policies and procedures as appropriate to the role.
* Undertake any additional duties commensurate with the level of the post.


Requirements

* Degree or Equivalent in Social Work.
* Current Social Work England Registration.
* Post Qualifying Social Work Experience.
