Overview

A vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated support worker to work within the Central Assertive Outreach Team, a busy community mental health team working across culturally diverse areas.


Context

Assertive Outreach Teams typically work with people who have severe and enduring mental illnesses, who have a history of poor engagement with mental health services and often have co-morbid substance use factors. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate their ability to build rapport and therapeutic relationships with service users. This position would be suitable for a person with experience of working within a mental health setting, with NVQ level 3 or equivalent. We work with adults 25 years plus and support people who have historically avoided contact with mental health services, using a flexible and creative approach to engagement.


Responsibilities

* Communicate effectively at all levels and demonstrate competent risk management skills.
* Build rapport and therapeutic relationships with service users who have severe and enduring mental health issues.
* Work autonomously as well as being an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Support service users and their carers with engagement and care planning within the Care Programme Approach framework.
* Contribute to a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary environment and participate in training opportunities, supervision, and team activities.


Qualifications

* Experience of working within a mental health setting.
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and demonstrate commitment to high standards of care.
