Buyer / Supply Chain Planner
Maternity Cover: January 2026 / up to 12 months
Salary: £34,000 - £36,000
Monday - Thursday: 8:30am-5pm / Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
A local manufacturing business are searching for a Buyer / Supply Chain Planner to join their team on a Maternity cover.
Responsibilities:
* Accurately order required volume of products using sales and forecasting available
* The Buyer is responsible for Procurement of production, sales & service materials
* Monitor unavailability and wastage. Contribute actively to reducing both and meeting targets
* Understand importance of 100% availability, including seasonal and promotional activities and investigate all instances of non- and short- delivery to determine with the supplier an agreed plan of action to prevent recurrence
* Build strong, longlasting relationship with all suppliers and other team members.
* Review/approve invoice queries andssist with end of week/month procedures, including supplier credit claims
* Evaluation to determine the most efficient order quantity
* project purchasing resulting in budgeted cost savings
* Liaise with various departments to produce accurate supplier requirement forecasts
* Mange supplier relations, including reviews, monitoring and reporting, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
* To manage the daily production schedule based on customer orders, availability of materials, manufacturing capacity and creation date of production orders Stock Transport Orders
* Update product availability dates in system
* Communicate plans and forecasts to internal stakeholders
* Prepare and maintain statistics to share with internal stakeholders
* Responsible for identifying and creating the optimisation batches in accordance with the scheduled week (i.e. planning the production workload and identifying the production dates and target dates)
* Supporting the transport team with maintaining vehicles (MOT, insurnaces) and manage any drivers queries
* Schedule customer deliveries with the drivers
Your Experience:
* Experience within a Purchasing role in a manufacturing background is preferable
* Understand of supply chain
