Overview
We are looking to recruit a Deputy Manager to support the manager in the day to day running of our two bedded home in Chorlton, Manchester. To be considered for the role, candidates must have at least 2 years experience within Residential childcare in a senior role and have their NVQ level 3 or 4 in residential child care.
40 hours per week- Monday to Friday. But flexibility expected where needed, to support needs of the home, this will also mean dropping 9-5 hours to cover gaps in the rota, covering full shift and sleep when there is sickness or annual leave that cannot be covered by staffing overtime or bank workers.
Overview of duties
-Overseeing and auditing of day-to-day paperwork systems within the home.
* Implementation of new systems to support the needs of the young people within the home and support team to understand/ complete these.
-Attend/ represent the home at relevant meetings for the young people, then taking and producing meeting minutes.
* Effective delegation of paperwork tasks to staff within the home to ensure that paperwork is maintained to a high standard.
* Complete and ultimately finalise/ sign off audits of incidents within the home and carry out debriefs with staff and young people.
* Responsible in maintaining financial records within the home.
* Ensure that records in the home are stored and held in a manner which is compliant with GDPR 2018 regulations.
- Embed the company's ethos of how we look after the young people within the home.
* Immediately report any unsafe practices- share concerns with the Responsible individual & outside agencies as required.
-Promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of the young people within our care.
-Encouragement for the young people to attend education and review strategies of how we are supporting this.
* Ensure that the young people's achievements are celebrated.
* Be a voice for our children and ensure that their views, wishes and feelings are documented throughout our systems within the home and shared where required.
* Ensure that the young people have access to a wide range of activities within the local area and further, in line with their interests and hobbies.
-Promote that the staff make strong and positive relationships with the young people, this supports safeguarding within our home.
Leadership and management/ other expectations
- Effectively engage with the Registration process and complete tasks for this, in the required timescales.
* Be an effective decision maker when faced with difficult and unexpected situations and lead a team to also be able to do this.
* Manage a safe environment for the young people and staff, ensuring that any health and safety tasks or alike are completed.
* Supervision and appraisal of staff.
* Support staff probationary period documentation and development plans.
* Lead team meetings/ senior meetings.
* Ensure that staff in the home understand their own roles and responsibilities when looking after the young people.
* Be a strong & dedicated leader of the home, ensuring that the home is Ofsted compliant and then lead Ofsted inspections.
* Support at least monthly visits from the Regulation 44 visitor, make systems accessible to them and complete the actions given, in the actioned timescales.
* Ensure that staff within the home are aware of company policies and procedures & be confident to challenge any practice issues.
* Ensure that the home gathers feedback from various sources about the service that we provide within the home, so that this can be evidenced where required.
* To effectively manage the home and then support another service within the organisation as reasonably asked.
* To lead with staff recruitment for the home.
* Attend required training and development offered by the Responsible individual.
* Confidentiality is maintained within the home and code of conduct is adhered to.
-To share the on-call system
Qualifications & experience
- NVQ 3- Level 3 Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children and Young People's workforce (or equivalent)
* Level 5 diploma in leadership & management in residential childcare- England (or equivalent). If not already completed, must be willing to complete.
-Within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
-Worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role.
