We're working with a family-run children's care organisation based in Maidstone that is looking for an experienced Responsible Individual (or aspiring RI) to support and guide their growing group of therapeutic homes. With three homes already running smoothly and a fourth on the horizon, this role offers a unique chance to take on regional-level oversight while remaining closely connected to the staff, culture, and young people who make it all matter. Competitive salary (based on experience and seniority) 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) Private Bupa healthcare Mental health and wellbeing support through EAP Monthly supervision with the Director Regular site visits and team-building activities Full training package available, including support with Level 7 Opportunity to grow with the organisation as more homes open Strong progression potential - you'll have a genuine say in shaping the direction of the service About the Organisation: Small, independent provider established in 2020 All homes located in Maidstone - no long-distance travel required Therapeutic, family-style ethos with strong values Currently supporting children and young people aged 8-18 with EBD Homes operate on a 1:1 staffing ratio (or more depending on need) Leadership team includes hands-on Director and behaviour specialist Known for flexible thinking, excellent communication, and staff wellbeing Expanding to five homes - vision is to maintain small, high-quality services The Role: Hold Ofsted registration as the Responsible Individual across multiple homes Oversee Registered Managers and their teams to ensure the delivery of safe, therapeutic care Provide clear leadership, mentoring and support to all management teams Ensure each home remains compliant and inspection-ready at all times Drive quality improvement and share best practice across services Act as a key liaison with Ofsted, placing authorities, professionals and stakeholders Support with incident management, safeguarding concerns, and staff development Contribute to growth planning as the organisation opens additional homes Attend monthly in-person meetings in Maidstone (home base) and visit each home regularly Requirements: Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior leadership role within children's residential care Ideally experience as a Registered Manager or current RI (not essential if you meet Ofsted criteria) Strong understanding of regulations, inspection frameworks, and safeguarding procedures Emotionally intelligent, personable, and able to build strong, trusting relationships Confident supporting multiple services while staying hands-on and visible Therapeutic mindset - someone who leads with empathy, humour, and care Driving licence preferred (but not essential if local and able to travel across Maidstone) Interested?
