Community Public Health Nurse - School Nursing
Hywel Dda University Health Board School Nursing Team are looking for an experienced Band 5 Registered Staff Nurse to join their Carmarthenshire team. This permanent, part‑time role (22.5 hours, term time only) offers a salary of £31,516 to £38,364 per annum pro‑rata.
Job Summary
The School Nursing service supports the physical, emotional and social health of children and young people aged 5‑16 (up to 18 in 6th form). Key duties include:
* Provide school‑based immunisation programmes, administer vaccines and manage consent forms.
* Deliver routine and emergency care, health promotion and preventative services.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner, delegating tasks within a team and working in line with the NMC code of conduct.
* Support professional development and, where appropriate, progress to the role of School Care Practitioner (SCPHN).
Qualification & Knowledge
* RN Adult, RN Child or Midwife registration.
* Awareness of the Welsh Government framework for School Nursing.
Essential Experience
* Experience working with children and/or young people.
* Experience working as part of a team.
Desirable
* Evidence of working with families, understanding children’s rights.
* Experience in community settings and child protection work.
* Mentorship or supervision experience.
* Welsh speaking (Level 1) – desirable.
Language Requirements
Welsh language ability is desirable; English or Welsh speakers are welcome. Where necessary, the board offers support to meet minimal Welsh language requirements.
