Description of Position
The Senior Buyer / Estimator plays a vital role in the production process and overall business success. Responsibilities include sourcing raw materials, CNC machined components, and soft goods for three group companies, ensuring the most competitive prices and lead times. The role involves estimating, making it ideal for someone with machining experience who has moved from a shopfloor environment to an office setting. Strong negotiation skills, networking, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, mathematical ability, and knowledge of sustainability, risk management, and ethical issues are highly desirable.
Since most company revenue is spent on procurement, the candidate can significantly impact cost savings and profits. We seek individuals with relevant skills and experience who wish to join a growing business within a friendly team. Full product training will be provided as part of the role's development.
* Proven track record with MRP, cost reduction, and procurement control
* Good understanding of CNC (Milling & Turning)
* High competence in Microsoft Excel
* Methodical and process-driven with a modern mindset
* Approachable with a positive attitude
* Willing to assist in problem-solving
* Full UK Drivers Licence
* Must be able to commute to Brighouse, HD6
Highly Desirable Skills
* Degree / CIPS qualification or 5+ years in a similar role within the oil & gas industry
* Valve knowledge
* Raw material knowledge (Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Duplex, Nickel Alloys, etc.)
General Information
Please Note: The role is suitable for a motivated candidate eager to develop skills in a rapidly growing business. Overseas travel may be required for supplier visits.
Working Hours
38.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday: 8.00 am – 4.45 pm, lunch 12.30 – 1.00 pm (or as required). 33 days annual leave, including flexible, statutory, and shutdown holidays.
Salary: Attractive, dependent on experience.
