Urgent Support Workers needed in Eastbourne, East Sussex
Position: Support Workers
Job Purpose:
Residential support workers required in a new supported accommodation opening in Eastbourne to work with adults with high functioning residents with mental health and some learning disability. The purpose of the Support Worker role is to work collaboratively with residents, enabling them to live independent and fulfilling lives. This involves providing tailored support in daily living, fostering positive relationships, promoting autonomy and choice, and offering specialised care for the residents.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support clients in living the life they desire, making decisions, and having control over their lives.
* Assist with personal care, medication management, and other health-related tasks.
* Support clients in maintaining their home, including cooking, shopping, and ensuring cleanliness and safety.
* Facilitate access to community facilities and participation in activities outside the home.
* Encourage skill development and assist with achieving goals outlined in support plans.
* Treat clients with dignity and respect always, while maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures.
* Attend training sessions, team meetings, and supervision to enhance skills and knowledge.
* Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of clients and colleagues, working collaboratively as part of a team.
* Undertake any other duties as required by management, adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential Requirements:
* Enthusiasm and positive attitude towards supporting individuals with complex needs.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication methods as needed.
* Understanding of clients' rights and duties within supported accommodation and the community.
* Ability to provide personal care sensitively and follow written policies and procedures.
* Flexibility, reliability, and punctuality, with the capability to adapt to changing needs and complete various shifts.
* Initiative and problem-solving skills to handle emergencies or difficult situations.
* Competence in managing finances and maintaining accurate records.
* Understanding of health and safety principles, equal opportunities, and diversity.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently.
* Proficiency in domestic duties and meal preparation.
Desirable Requirements:

* Current full manual car driving license.

Shift Details:
* 12-hour shifts, 8-hour shifts – mainly in the evenings and weekends but day shifts will also be available.
