Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner

Location: Farringdon, London (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 + Benefits
Type: Full-time, Permanent

A well-established, employee-owned planning and transport consultancy is seeking an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner to join its growing Transport Planning team in Farringdon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is keen to build strong technical foundations while contributing to high-quality, development-led transport planning work.

You'll work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, assisting experienced transport planners across a diverse range of projects, from smaller residential schemes through to large-scale mixed-use developments and regeneration projects. The role offers genuine exposure, structured learning and clear progression within a business known for long-term staff retention.

The Role

As an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of transport planning commissions from early feasibility through to planning submission. Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and technical notes

* Preparing Travel Plans and Travel Packs

* Analysing traffic, census and public transport data

* Supporting swept path analysis and AutoCAD-based design work

* Liaising with internal teams, local authorities and external stakeholders

* Attending meetings, workshops and design reviews

* Contributing to evidence-based, sustainable transport solutions

About You

You will ideally have around one year of experience in a transport planning role, although strong graduates with relevant academic knowledge will also be considered. You should have a genuine interest in areas such as sustainable transport, healthy streets, placemaking, transport policy and development planning.

You will bring:

* An understanding of the UK planning system (e.g. NPPF, London Plan)

* Confidence using Microsoft Office

* Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, ARCADY, PICADY, TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions 9, GIS or census datasets (desirable, not essential)

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* A proactive, flexible and team-oriented approach

Why Join?

You'll be joining a consultancy with a strong people-first culture and a clear commitment to inclusion, sustainability and long-term career development. The business is employee-owned, with staff actively involved in shaping its future through EDI, ESG and community initiatives.

Benefits include:

* Employee-owned business with discretionary bonus

* 9% employer pension contribution, income protection and access to financial advice

* £500 annual health and wellbeing allowance, annual health checks and counselling services

* 25 days annual leave, with the option to buy up to 5 additional days

* Flexible and hybrid working arrangements

* Excellent training, mentoring and career development support

* Cycle to Work scheme and electric vehicle leasing

* A strong social culture, including team events, summer parties, clubs and long-service awards

If you're passionate about transport planning and looking for a role that combines meaningful project work, genuine support and long-term progression, this is an outstanding opportunity.
