Safeguarding Practice Development Practitioner

The Safeguarding Team for Lancashire and South Cumbria provide safeguarding advice and consultation to teams within the Trust to ensure safeguarding practices are embedded and to foster a culture of vigilance. With growing services and the introduction of new services, the Safeguarding Team provides experienced safeguarding practitioners to offer specialist advice where needed and works externally with partner agencies to provide assurance.
Applications are invited from experienced qualified nurses or social workers with leadership qualities and experience in safeguarding practices and legislation.
The post is to support the Safeguarding team, clinicians, and managers in developing and embedding safeguarding practices that reflect contemporary practice and complement national guidance and local health improvement programmes, whilst meeting the Trust’s Safeguarding Governance agenda.
Main duties of the job
* Lead and support practice development initiatives prioritised within the safeguarding plan to facilitate the delivery of evidence‑based high‑quality safeguarding practices.
* Develop systems of benchmarking, audit, and evaluation to measure and monitor standards of practice as part of the Safeguarding governance team.

Person Specification
Education / Qualification
* 1st Level degree or similar
* In‑depth understanding of safeguarding legislation (Children Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act) and national guidance
* Considerable evidence of continuing professional development
Experience
* At least several years post‑registration experience
* Experience of project management
* Experience of undertaking audit, research and quality improvement
* Ability to teach in virtual and classroom settings
* Working knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of safeguarding governance
* Understanding of national policy in relation to advancing and developing safeguarding practice
