The post holder will be expected to manage a timely, safe, efficient, and cost-effective estates operational and maintenance service. Responsible to the Deputy Head of Estates with line management responsibility for all operational electrical, trade, specialist technicians, charge hands, and supervisors within the Estates Department.
The post holder will act as a specialist on behalf of the Trust for all aspects of Engineering & Building Services and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of the engineering infrastructure, systems, and equipment. They will develop positive working relationships with Facilities and Estates Managers, Divisional Departments, and Senior Management in both Clinical and Non-Clinical areas. Participation as a member of the Projects Team for operational and maintenance issues is expected.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing engineering (Electrical) services for the Trust.
* Facilitating a quality Estates service responsive to operational needs.
* Providing professional and technical estates advice.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory standards, codes of practice, health and safety guidance, and NHS directives.
* Overseeing maintenance work, including contracts, to standard and specification.
* Maintaining specialist services and equipment used in patient care per statutory standards.
* Monitoring and reviewing the planned preventative maintenance system (PPM) and statutory compliance.
* Acting as Authorised Person (AP) for High Voltage and Low Voltage Systems.
* Implementing and maintaining the site asset register; overseeing minor schemes and capital works.
* Monitoring performance and conducting reviews.
* Carrying out disciplinary actions when necessary.
* Maintaining divisional policies and procedures.
* Participating in the emergency on-call roster and supporting out-of-hours duties.
* Providing cover for colleagues as needed.
* Assisting in ad hoc reports and project work.
