Quality assurance co-ordinator (fixed term 12 months)

The National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety (Taskforce) was established to inform the Scottish Government of the SPS response to Deaths in Custody. The SPSC FAI Workforce Support and Training Project considers all aspects of training in relation to the themes agreed by the Taskforce, which has approved this role to ensure quality assurance of learning and development across the work of the Taskforce. Initial funding for post is for 12-months as per Scottish Government agreement, although this is likely to extend into multi-year workstreams with funding subject to Scottish Government business case approval. If extended funding is approved, the successful candidate's tenure may be continued on an interim basis to ensure continuity and the advancement of critical workstream priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement, integrate and maintain quality assurance systems, processes and tools for learning and development in relation to the National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety, and ensuring ongoing compliance with quality and education sector requirements.
2. Design and undertake quality assurance activities for programmes of learning and assessments developed and delivered by SPS College or external providers, including the creation of assurance plans, and the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
3. Provide expert quality assurance and standards advice and consultancy to the National Taskforce on Prison Welfare and Safety and the development and/or review of quality assurance activities
4. Undertake routine audits of training delivery, programme management and learner assessment. Analyse audit findings, investigate areas of non-conformance and develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions

You will have the following:

5. Educated to HNC/SCQF Level 7.
6. Quality Assurance: Working knowledge of quality assurance practice and standards in learning and teaching.
7. Learning and Development: Working knowledge of all areas of the training cycle and of learning validation and assessment to recognised education sector standards, including SCQF.
8. Writing guidance/procedures and drafting reports: Experience of writing guidance and/or procedures and of drafting formal reports. Interview
9. Audit: Data analysis and evaluation skills; ability to build and undertake audit processes and extract and interpret complex information
