We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Technology Engineer to join our Consulting Energy, Lighting & Technology Practice based in our Birmingham office. With have shared office space in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Bristol, so we also welcome applications from across these regions
Amey Consulting are a design partner to National Highways in the delivery of the largest and most comprehensive renewals programme they have ever launched. Through the Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) we are supporting National Highways in the design and delivery of its significant investment in operational roadside technology renewals over the remainder of the current RIS2 and future RIS3 periods. We are also providers on National Highways frameworks, including SPaTS2, OTCF and ITCF with growing consulting opportunities in the technology arena.
As a Senior Technology Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Technology Team leads on a variety of operational roadside technology schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers. Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering design solutions, complying with all relevant technical DMRB and other technology standards and client requirements, often working unsupervised.
The preparation and checking of technology designs or studies, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.
Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling elements of budget and costs associated with the production of deliverables under your control or influence
Liaising with client, contractors and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to technical queries etc.
Compilation of as-built records and documentation for technology scheme handover in accordance with MCH 1349 (including Health & Safety Files)
Developed experience and technical knowledge of operational roadside technology, probably gained in a Technology Engineer role or equivalent
Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks. A good knowledge of the various operational technology systems present on the UK road network
Experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with the management of health, safety and welfare, and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools
Demonstrates good commercial awareness
Has a very good understanding of design and site safety risk assessment. Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.
