We are looking for candidates who are currently working at the Trust within a substantive band 5 position with two years experience, who have forensic nursing experience and additional experience in nurturing nursing students / apprentices.
The Clinical Team Leader will lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice; with particular reference to the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. They will also assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the multi-disciplinary ward staff; supervising the work of Staff Nurses, healthcare Assistants, and student nurses. The Clinical Team Leader will deputise for the Clinical Nurse Manager in their absence.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be highly motivated, patient focused leaders, able to deal with complex clinical issues and challenges associated with working in a high secure environment. In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), lead the team in maintaining a safe and therapeutic clinical environment for staff and patients.
Supporting the CNM in developing and maintaining innovative nursing interventions.
Demonstrate positive situational leadership skills
Provide/ensure Clinical supervision and support is available to junior staff.
Promote personal and professional development of staff through the creation of a positive learning environment.
Ensure high standard of evidence based care is provided to our patients.
Act as Unit co-ordinator within the Hospital as required when appropriate.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
1. Hold a current registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Nurse. (Level 1: RN3, RNMH, RN5, RNLD or Level 2: RN4, RN6).
2. NMC approved mentorship qualification (i.e. ENB 770, 998, 45, Mentorship Update, Practice Assessor).
3. Completion of Preceptorship Programme (12 months’ post registration).
Desirable criteria
4. Diploma or Degree in Nursing. •Relevant post registration health care, leadership & management qualifications (i.e. Staff Nurse to Clinical Leader Course, NHS Leadership Academy / Coaching Course).
5. Teaching Qualification and NVQ Assessor
6. Mandatory Training up-to-date.

Experience

8. Two years relevant Experience in Mental Health at Band 5 or equivalent
