Role Details:
The Project Lead Engineer will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the Mechanical Service Trenches (MST) package for the project. The role will oversee the development of requirements, technical scope, desktop studies, and assurance activities, ensuring the successful design and implementation of works by consultants and contractors. This includes the replacement or refurbishment of existing structures, plant, and equipment to meet modern standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Oversight: Lead multi-disciplinary engineering work packages, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
2. Team Management: Guide the Engineering Team and deputise for the Engineering Manager.
3. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, contractors and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Design & Technical Assurance: Oversee design activities, review drawings and documentation, and ensure compliance with site standards.
5. Site Supervision: Provide technical oversight during construction and documentation phases.
6. Requirements & Risk Management: Develop stakeholder requirements, respond to technical queries, and review risk assessments and method statements.
7. Compliance & Improvement: Uphold Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environmental standards, promoting continuous improvement.
8. Training & Representation: Deliver training, represent the organisation at meetings, and present engineering updates to varied audiences.
9. On-site Engagement: Regularly attend site to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and site teams.
Key Requirements:
10. Degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline
11. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
12. Experience working in a highly regulated environment
13. Strong knowledge and experience in Mechanical Engineering, including familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes
14. Experience managing project engineering work packages, including site implementation and integration, within a regulated environment.
15. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
16. Desirable: experience in the UK nuclear sector (defence or energy) & familiarity with nuclear safety cases and UK regulations
