Are you looking for a new challenge?

Luton Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Fetal Medicine Midwife to work within our Fetal Medicine team.

The post holder will work with the Fetal Medicine Lead Midwife to support the Fetal Medicine Service, providing care for high risk women in liaison with the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will take responsibility to advise staff in the acute and primary care setting in relation to Fetal Medicine and will be actively involved in client/family education, supporting midwives, obstetricians and GP's to provide on-going antenatal care and management and care planning for clients with diabetes in the intrapartum and postnatal period.

Main duties of the job

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced to join our Fetal Medicine Team. Midwives are supported and enabled to practice in the optimal environments for all elements of midwifery care for all women (and their families) to enjoy a normal birth experience. You should be an experienced midwife, able to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care and be able to work flexibly.
You will provide a full range of health education, social care and advice to women, liaising with multi-disciplinary/agency groups are to continually improve maternity care for childbearing women and their families, being responsive to the needs of the women and obtain user views as appropriate. Supporting student midwives and junior members of staff as we guide them through their professional development, and receiving excellent senior midwife support to ensure you fulfil your own potential. We understand that that happy fulfilled staff will offer their best, and we aim to achieve this through development within a supportive team approach.
The successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Registered Midwife
2. •Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

3. •Evidence of further education in research and audit
4. •Education at masters level
5. •ENB 997 course or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

6. •Evidence of relevant clinical experience

Desirable criteria

7. •Previous experience in fetal medicine

Sklls, Knowledge and ability

Essential criteria

8. •Ability to provide clinical expertise in fetal medicine and antenatal screening
9. Can demonstrate a forward thinking approach towards care provision and women’s choice
10. Ability to prioritise, and demonstrate decision making skills
11. •Able to work in a team or independently as required
12. •Able to work in a multicultural environment
13. •Able to use information to plan, implement and evaluate care
14. •IT literate including ability to use Excel, Datix or other incident reporting system, Word

Desirable criteria

15. •Experience in Antenatal Screening Ability to interpret, analyse and present complex data
16. •Knowledge of National Screening Committee Standards and Guidelines
