About the role
To oversee the day-to-day delivery of the Ernie Husson Photographic Collection digitisation project through to completion by March 2027. Created by photojournalist Ernie Husson, the collection comprises approximately 20,000 digital images and 19,500 fragile acetate negatives. Together, these materials form an irreplaceable visual record of Powys’ people, places and everyday life in the late twentieth century.
About you
* Experience of working on a digitisation project
* Experience of supervising, coordinating, or supporting volunteers.
* Understanding of digital preservation principles, including secure storage and long-term access
* Organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
* Excellent IT and digital skills, including confidence working with digital collections and online platforms.
What you will do
* Oversee the digitisation of approximately 19,500 photographic negatives using a specialist external contractor to ensure high-quality digital preservation.
* Supervise the repackaging of the photographic collection, ensuring appropriate archival storage and long-term physical protection.
* Assist with cataloguing all digitised images, creating accurate, consistent, and meaningful metadata
* Select and upload a representative sample of images to StoriPowys Lluniau,
* Work with Community Engagement Officers to develop inclusive and meaningful opportunities for diverse audiences to engage with the collection.
* Support the development and delivery of an exhibition at Radnorshire museums showcasing the photographic collection
