We’re recruiting for a Housing Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational and people skills who is ready to start or grow their career in housing and tenancy services.
About the role:
In this role, you will carry out a wide range of practical housing management tasks focused on tenancy start-ups, tenancy closures, and supporting tenants through resettlement. Your responsibilities will include managing rent arrears, monitoring void properties, supporting income collection and addressing issues such as anti-social behaviour. You’ll also deliver enhanced housing management support to help tenants sustain their tenancies successfully.
In addition, you will ensure that all properties are maintained to a high standard by carrying out regular inspections and reporting any repairs or maintenance needs promptly. This is essential to keeping homes safe, habitable, and compliant with the service’s housing policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensuring tenants are fully aware of the property condition at sign up, both internally and externally and their responsibility to keep it in good condition.
* Undertake risk assessments and develop risk management plans where any risk are identified and ensure these are updated on a regular basis whilst also communicating risks to other relevant staff.
* Maintaining accurate records keeping property files and the MIS up to date daily in line with internal processes
* Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues, serving notices; appointing a solicitor and attending court hearings
* Facilitating tenant consultation, information and participation related to housing matters and housing management information
Required:
* Hold towards a recognised housing qualification e.g. CIH level 2 or above
* Hold towards health and social care qualifications
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car
* Knowing of housing law relevant to social and private care landlords and tenants
* Experience of providing housing management functions e.g. managing voids, rent arrears, identifying and reporting repairs
* Knowledge of decent homes standard and the housing health & safety rating system (HHSRS)
* Standard DBS
