An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Commercial Lawyer with 3+ years of post-qualification experience to join a leading national firm based in Bristol. This firm represents a diverse and impressive range of clients, including FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, public sector organizations, educational institutions, and industry bodies. The team plays a key role in supporting clients on high-profile, business-critical projects across various industries such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace, energy, renewables, and international trade.
About the Role
As part of a collaborative and diverse team, you will advise on a full range of contractual arrangements related to strategic projects and daily business operations. Your work will involve complex commercial transactions for clients in sectors including advanced manufacturing, energy, aerospace, logistics, and life sciences. Key responsibilities include advising on supply chain management, procurement, product development, and market entry strategies. You will also support energy transition, decarbonisation projects, and productivity initiatives. Daily tasks involve contract strategy, drafting, negotiation, risk management, and providing in-house style support for businesses without internal legal teams.
You will have opportunities to work on multi-jurisdictional projects, often collaborating with international partners to deliver seamless cross-border solutions. This includes supporting multinational corporations and expanding scale-up businesses into markets such as the USA and Saudi Arabia.
Key Areas of Focus
* Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including supply chain, procurement, outsourcing, and R&D contracts.
* Advising on market entry strategies and legal frameworks for companies expanding internationally.
* Supporting energy transition and decarbonisation initiatives.
* Collaborating with in-house legal teams to deliver practical support.
* Participating in multi-jurisdictional projects involving international stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in commercial contracts, gained at a City or large regional firm, or in-house.
* Proven expertise in handling complex commercial matters, including supply chain, procurement, and sale of goods and services.
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to provide clear, commercially focused advice.
* Familiarity with international trade, including import/export matters, is highly advantageous.
* Experience or interest in technology, intellectual property, and data protection is beneficial but not essential.
