Job overview
This role is to assist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in providing a high standard of therapy services to in-patients at the SWLEOC and to undertake duties to support the smooth functioning of the therapy department and service.
You will work closely together and in collaboration with other agencies to provide a comprehensive and dovetailed service for patients with rehabilitation needs. Epsom and St Helier provides a range of rehabilitation services within Epsom and St.Helier Hospitals.
This post involves a 7 day service, 7.30 – 20.00 shift pattern, including rostered weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist and skilled assistance in the delivery of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services for adults and older people.
* To plan, review and independently implement specialist rehabilitation and enablement programs for a variety of clients within a defined area of competence.
* To work closely with Multidisciplinary Teams and other professionals, particularly in relation to patient mobility and enablement, including assessment for and provision of appropriate equipment, and to assist in the development of good working relationships with statutory, voluntary and independent organisations.
* To contribute to the development of this role within the Trust and Acute Therapies, utilising highly developed skills and experience.
* To contribute to the provision of a 7 day service by participating in weekend rotas.
Person specification
Experience
* Evidence of experience as a Therapy Technical Instructor
* Evidence of assessing for and providing equipment
* Evidence of working with community services
* Evidence of working in elective orthopaedics and/or trauma
* Evidence of experience with equipment ordering and management
Education
* Achieved the Care Certificate Qualification
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent
* Achieved education to NVQ Level 3
Communication
* Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills
* Evidence of discharging patients independently
* Evidence of proficiency in electronic health records and documentation (eg: Bluespier, word, excel, etc)
Personal Characteristics
* Demonstrates experience of working within a multiprofessional team
* Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload effectively
* Evidence of reflective practice in recognising own limitations
* Willingness to work flexibly to cover a 7 day service
