Role Overview:
The Junior Aviation Underwriting Assistant provides administrative and technical support to underwriters, assisting with the accurate processing, monitoring, and reporting of risks. The role is suitable for an early-career professional seeking to develop underwriting and market knowledge within a specialty insurance environment.
Main purposes/responsibilities of job:
1. Support underwriters in the administration of risks
2. Perform accurate data entry to underwriting and financial systems
3. Assist with basic risk analysis under underwriter guidance
4. Maintain and update risk registers, renewal lists, and underwriting records
5. Liaise with Operations and Finance teams to support policy closings and cash management
Key tasks:
1. Maintain Risk Register
2. Data entry to ensure up to date financial metrics
3. Preparation of monthly presentation of Company activity
4. Risk analysis as requested/guided by Underwriters
5. Maintenance of renewal lists
6. Understand accounting system (Asstra)
7. Support Operations team regarding closings
8. Maintain Cash book in liaison with Finance team
9. Administer risk declarations to facilities
10. Daily checks on MI system and “Daybook”
Education Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 A-levels (or equivalent)
• Commitment to studying towards the ACII qualification (or equivalent CII insurance qualifications)
Experience Requirements:
• Previous exposure to the Lloyd’s market or specialty insurance an advantage but not required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with data Skills & Attributes • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Well-organized with the ability to manage routine tasks efficiently
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn and develop underwriting and Lloyd’s market knowledge
• Team-oriented with a professional and proactive approach
