Role: Finance Business Partner

Contract type: 9 - 12 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC)
Location: Malvern based at minimum 3 days a week

Role Purpose
This role is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity and enabling strategic decision-making across the business. As the primary contact for financial matters, you will lead on financial reporting, budget control, and process optimisation-ensuring visibility of actuals vs. budget, controlling spend, and reducing administrative burden across the function.
Financial Control & Compliance
* Ensure robust accounting practices and financial integrity across the business.
* Act as the main point of contact for financial information internally and externally (e.g. HMRC, auditors).
* Lead month-end close activities: accruals, prepayments, inventory adjustments, and provisions.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Prepare and contribute to monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet).
* Support Board reporting with clear variance analysis and narrative commentary.
* Review and reconcile monthly payroll, liaising with third-party providers as needed.
* Manage VAT returns, including reconciliations and timely submissions.
* Lead year-end statutory and independent audits, including audit stocktake.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Spend Visibility
* Monitor and analyse overhead and cost expenditure against budget.
* Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and development of rolling forecasts.
* Provide financial insights to support cost control and strategic planning.
* Ensure visibility of financial performance to the management team through timely reporting.
Process Streamlining & Systems Management
* Drive improvements to reduce manual tasks and enhance reporting efficiency.
* Maintain financial and costing parameters within the ERP system (Priority).
* Support ERP system enhancements, migrations, or process improvements.
* Champion continuous improvement and strengthen internal control frameworks.
Product & Project Accounting
* Manage accounting and reporting for R&D projects, including cost allocation and capitalisation.
* Analyse product costing and performance, including gross margin and full cost of sales.
* Collate data to support R&D tax claims in line with accounting standards.
Team Leadership & Business Partnering
* Line manage two Finance Assistants, overseeing AP, AR, credit control, and reconciliations.
* Provide ad hoc financial business partnering across all levels of the organisation.
* Collaborate with HR and operational teams to align financial and people strategies.
Experience Required
* 5+ years in a similar finance role, ideally within manufacturing, technology, or R&D environments.
* Strong ERP system experience (Priority preferred).
* Audit background beneficial.
* Advanced Excel skills (modelling experience desirable).

* Understanding of R&D accounting and tax claim processes.

* Experience with PowerBI and other Data analysis & Management tools
Desirable Skills
* CIMA Preferred (ACA and ACCA also considered)
* Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Business partnering experience in commercial or operational settings.
* Familiarity with Lean processes and controllership.
* Knowledge of international taxation and trading rules.
