Maintenance Assistant - Equans
Equans is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our team at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital in Blackburn. This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will possess maintenance skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the site, working within the response team under the supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor and Mechanical Manager. Responsibilities include proactive maintenance, repairs, inspections of building services, fabric, fixtures, and fittings, adhering to standards, procedures, legislation, and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on building services as per the schedule.
* Respond promptly to breakdown requests from the help desk or management.
* Assist with minor upgrade and adaptation installations.
* Conduct fault finding on malfunctioning equipment.
* Follow safe working practices and operate access equipment and tools safely.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed.
* Work flexibly with colleagues and contractors, liaising with wards and departments to minimize disruption.
* Undertake training to develop skills and maintain service standards.
* Complete risk assessments and work collaboratively to deliver customer-focused service.
* Use initiative for decision-making, including out-of-hours work.
* Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
* Perform other tasks as assigned.
Impact and Complexity
This role supports statutory and contractual obligations, contributing to the effective operation of healthcare facilities through maintenance and engineering activities. The candidate will undertake duties aligned with their training and competence, with access to specialist advice from the Estates management team.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in a general maintenance environment.
* Customer-facing experience.
* Healthcare environment experience (desirable).
* Experience with computer-based task monitoring systems (CAFM) (desirable).
* Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, DHW, LPHW, CHW (desirable).
* Electrical qualifications (desirable).
