Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPSMD) has been praised by the GMC for its innovative approach to undergraduate medical education. Your role will involve engaging with undergraduate education both in hospital and academic settings, contributing to the development of future doctors and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities include patient care for inpatients and outpatients, teaching medical students and multidisciplinary teams, and non-teaching duties in gynaecology and obstetrics.
Annual leave and study leave will be scheduled around teaching commitments, with protected time allocated weekly for studying towards the PG Certificate. As part of the resident doctor team, you will participate in educational activities and be encouraged to teach nurses, midwives, and junior doctors.

Main duties of the job
The appointment is for a clinical teaching fellow to facilitate delivery of Obstetrics & Gynaecology components of the 3rd and 4th-year medical school programme. The successful candidate will receive training in undergraduate medical education and undertake a fully funded Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Plymouth. The remaining time will focus on personal education and clinical experience at the SHO level. This position is jointly funded by UHP and PUPSMD.

Job responsibilities
Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, with no on-call duties. Some experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology post-medical school is recommended. Completion of Foundation jobs (F1 and F2) is essential. The position starts on 6th August 2025 for a duration of one year.
